Choosing Comfortable Clothes
Babies get out of their clothes very fast, so you don't have
to buy a lot from any item.
For baby day clothes, try to buy or borrow things that are a
little too big, as your child will get more wear and tear.
For sleeping clothes, look for the right things with low
fire hazard labels.
When buying or borrowing baby clothes, look for cotton
material to put on the sensitive skin of the baby. Wool and other fabrics can
irritate his skin, although it is good to use clothes made of these fabrics as
outer layers. Also, the cotton clothes will keep the baby cooler in hot weather
than the acrylic fiber clothes.
As the child begins to move, it makes sense to choose
clothes that are comfortable and do not restrict movement.
Once the baby begins to crawl, her clothes will become
dirty. While your baby is on all beds, lightweight washable overalls and pants
are good. Padded knee pants and tail buttons for easy diaper change are ideal.
In general, look for things that you can throw in the washing machine and do
not have to iron. Also, the darker colors do not show much dirt.
Sun safe clothes
Clothes made from a tightly woven fabric, such as t-shirts,
will protect the baby's skin from the sun. If you keep the fabric light, you
can see how much sun will pass through it. You can also get baby clothes that
are specifically designed to block the sun and say how much protection they
offer. Look for them at Cancer Council stores.
Long sleeves and leggings will help protect the baby's skin.
It is a good idea to choose cotton to keep the baby cool.
A hat is a great way to protect your baby from the sun. A
soft hat is good because the baby can sleep comfortably while wearing it. A
full-crown, full-rimmed or flared hat is better than a baseball cap because it
offers more shade. A chin strap will help keep the hat on the baby's head.
Babies shoes
When your child is learning to walk, it will be easier for
him if he has bare feet as often as possible. If it's really cute, you can try
slip-on socks or soft leather slippers that double as a first pair of shoes.
Your baby doesn't need proper footwear until he goes for a walk.
Wearing shoes in the early stages of walking learning can
make things more difficult for your child, so you don't have to hurry up and
get that first pair of shoes after the baby's first steps.
When it is time to buy the first pair of shoes for your
child, it is important to have the child fitted by a specialist in children's
footwear. This is because it can be quite difficult to tell if the shoes fit
properly. Keep sock sizes up to date. If the socks are too small, they will put
their toes in and make the walking uncomfortable.
Washing clothes
You can wash baby clothes with the rest of the laundry, but
try to avoid strong detergents and fabric softeners. These can irritate the
baby's skin.
Soak dirty diapers and clothes with poo in the sanitizer
before washing. Nappy sanitizer also makes a pre-soak handy once baby starts on
solids. Even with a jumpsuit, your child's clothes will be covered with food
and drink.
