Heat Rashes are irritating and common,
but luckily in most cases, they are easily curable.
Most of the heat rashes go away on their
own in two to three days if you provide babies a cooler and comfortable
surrounding.
Keeping babies in air condition or by
dressing them in light clothes to avoid sweating can help babies to cure from
this illness.
However, sometimes the suffering of the
rash is serious than regular itching and redness and needed some cure or
medical attention.
Home cure for Baby Rashes
There
are a few tips, to try at home as soon as rashes are spotted;
Cool the skin
Removing
extra layers of clothing and any other wraps and blankets from the baby. If the
rash appears while the baby is in sunlight or any other warm place, put away
the baby and move to the cooler place and try to turn on the fan.
Apply water
If
the rash noticed is on a smaller area, you just need to dap some wet clothes,
such small patches usually appear on the back of the neck or in skin fold like
elbow creases. Instant and gentle dab of wet cloth will relax and soothe the
irritated skin soon.
However,
if the rash, redness is found to cover the large area, try to give your baby a
bath. Soaking skin with water for a minimum of ten to fifteen minutes will
reduce the redness. While bathing your baby, keep in mind to avoid any chemical
or soap, as mostly the chemicals in bathing products can intensify the rash.
Ice packs
Cold
pack compresses are great for soothing irritated skin. Use ice wrapped in a
cloth or towel for making an ice packs. These ice packs can reduce the pain and
irritation associated with heat rash.
Fans and air conditioners
Cooling
down the skin, instantly or keeping it cool after suffering is important for
babies. Need to keep your skin clean and avoid sweating and humidity while it
is healing using cures. And to maintain the body temperature all the time in a
humid temperature it is avoid to use air conditioners or fans.
Avoid Rubbing:
After
bathing your baby in moderate to cool water, let the skin air dry and don’t rub
towels or any other clothes to dry the skin. As most of the towels are of the hard
texture and soft rashes skin is sensitive to any hard clothing item.
Secondly,
any clothing item with germs or previously used items can be problematic for
the skin.
Oatmeal
Oatmeal
is trusted for reducing itching and inflammation of heat rash. You can put
oatmeal in slightly warm water, one or two cups of oatmeals can be used for
this remedy. However, make sure the water is not hot, otherwise, it would cause
more irritation. This makes it a useful home remedy for heat rash and a number
of other skin conditions.
Adults
can also use the oatmeal for treating skin burn and heat rashes. You can also
make a paste with oatmeal and water and apply it to your skin. Mix 1 part
oatmeal to 1 part water, and mix until it forms a paste.
Aloe Vera
Being
an anti-inflammatory and natural antiseptic, aloe Vera can help to cool down
the skin and also prevent infections. The pain and swelling caused by the heat
rashes can be reduced using aloe Vera.
Neem
Commonly found tree of Neem also known
as margosa can be used on a number of skin rashes. Neem is a natural
antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory and these properties of neem make it an
effective remedy for skin rashes.
Neem powder can also be used for the treatment
of different skin conditions and can be added to a lukewarm bath. A water-based
mixture of neem is also used by applying on irritated skin. This paste can be
applied to the rash, left on for a few minutes, and washed off.
Unscented
Powders
The use of unscented talcum powder can
help to absorb excessive sweating. Mostly the scent based powders can cause
irritation to sensitive or irritated skin. You can apply a little powder in
skin folds of the babies which are likely to prone to swear. Adults can also
use powder to coat the skin like your underarms, backs of your knees, and inner
thighs.
Epsom
Salt
Epsom salt has many health care
properties and can be used to treat skin rashes or allergies. Mixing Epsom salt
in bathtubs and soaking bodies in it not only sooth rashes but also help to
release muscle strain and affected for adults too.
Precautions are needed, as if babies
swallow the salt-based water, it can damage their health.
Baking
Soda
A common ingredient of our pantry named
Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate can soothe itchy skin. This makes it a great
home remedy for baby heat rash and other itchy skin conditions.
Baking soda is used in the same way as
Epsom salt by adding it into water baths and soaking bodies in it. The best
results can be achieved by keeping bodies in baking soda based bath for around
15 to 20 minutes.
Avoid Self Medication:
Using
home remedies for a regular heat rash is accepted, however, one should not use
any medication or creams especially on babies. In case the rash or blisters are
spread on the larger area or are not cured by the simple home remedies, never
use medication without any prescription.
